Hey guys I'm currently having a problem connecting to the internet using my Dell E1505 laptop. I am using Comcast cable internet with a Linksys G-booster 2.4Ghz wireless router. They thing is that I was able to get on the internet with no problems for about a month since I've gotten it. Now it wont connect at all with or without a line hooked up to my laptop. Weird thing is that the laptop is about to detect the wireless signal but is unable to fully connect, nor am I able to browse anywhere. Also It says that my IP address is invalid w/ 0.0.0.0 as my IP. I ran the repair button but it is unable to renew my IP. When i run the ipconfig /all this is what shows up:

Windows IP configuration

Host name: my-pi28k0glshls
Primary DNS Suffix:
Node Type: unknown
IP Routing Enabled: no
WINS Proxy Enabled: no

Ethernet adapter wireless Network Connection:

Connection-specific DNS suffix . :
Description: Dell Wireless 1500 Draft 802.11n WLAN Mini-Card
Physical Address:00-19-7d-12-e7-01
Dhcp Enabled: yes
Autoconfiguration Enabled: yes
IP address: 0.0.0.0
Subnet Mask: 0.0.0.0
Default Gateway:
DHCP Server: 255.255.255.255

If anyone can help me I will be forever grateful! Thanks!!

My brother is using an older Dell Laptop with a B Wireless card and his is working fine

You can simply try ipconfig/ renew command or do a quick reboot could do the trick. Your wireless router is not set to block your mac address correct?

I have tried the ipconfig /renew to no avail. How do i check if i have blocked my mac address? thanks for all your help

Edit: the first time i tried renewing my isp it says successfull but needed to restart my comp, but now it says that it was unable to contact my DHCP server. Any suggestions?

You have to go into the router config settings and look for the area where it deals with mac address. I don't know the exact wording/title it would have. Each router is different. Did you reboot your computer and see if that worked?

Ok, what was the error message? I know this has worked for me when I came across the same problem. Disable your wireless card then re-enable it from my network places/ view connections, you're running Windows XP right? Once that's done..it should give you an ip address

Since you said your brother is able to get online with his wireless b card. I know most wireless routers support b/g. If you have a wireless g card and the router configuration is set only to wireless b, then it wouldn't be able to get on the internet. Make sure its set to b/g. I don't know what else is preventing you to log on...I wish I could see your computer in visibly.

I see that you having a wireless n card...I don't think your router will support wireless n cards since they are fairly new or still in the stage process of being tested out by manuf.

ok looks like i figured out a way to fix this. All i did was go to system restore and restored a week back. Thanks for your help james.

Also about your comment for the N card. I dont think that may be the problem since the internet still would not work, with the cable line connected directly to the laptop.
