problems with sound

recently i've reinstalled windows and now every time i swtich between headphone and speakers chrome wont swtich until I restart the browser.. what have i done wrong ? Ive got realteck HD audio manager installed but cant find any settings in there that would affect chrome.

just so its clear its not just chrome but any program that uses sound, games, videos whatever and by swtich i mean change the default audio in sound settings

How do you have the headphones plugged in? Front audio? What does the sound devices menu say?

usb headphones that stay plugged in. When I change default device in sound the sound disappears into limbo from both devices and i have to restart the program to get any sound back.

Have you tried re installing and updating the audio drivers?

yes and updated windows 7

didnt use the drivers from the asus CD and found some online = problem solved.
