Problem with Vista and Intel AC97 soundcard

I have just installed Vista Ultimate, and currently having some problems with my soundcard that is not working. My soundcard is an Intel AC97 and I have tried installing several different drivers, but no go - no sound :(

It worked fine when using Win XP, but now it isn't. Any advice on how to get it to work with Vista?

Thanks.

My dad had a problem with his 5.1 surround sound aswell, he has an awesome set from Logitech but Vista says its not compatiable and since he has no other speakers now he is reduced to headphones :(

Im sure Windows will sort it in time though, i trust them now, they're doing a good job!

Did check my motherboard, it's an Intel ICH5 and as said previously my soundcard is Realtek AC97. Not much of a computer geek, so could someone please give me a link to a place, where I can download the driver for the Intel ICH5 motherboard with the Realtek AC97 soundcard for Vista?

Thanks in advance.

If its AC97 those should work, are you sure you downloaded the first set for Vista and not the ones for Windows 98-2003

Are you 100% sure you have an AC97 audio codec? If not, identify and give us your board make and model. Intel ICH5 is not your motherboard, that is a chipset.

maybe time for a new card maybe 6channel compatable you could hook a nice surround system to it logitech make some good ones they pound for being so small i know it doesnt solve the problem but think how much more you could get and it sounds soo good
