I have just bought a Buffalo WBMR-G54 router to use only for my Nintendo DS lite handheld for wi-fi gaming. As I am new to networking am I not able to connect the router to the dsl line and power it up & then search for an access point and enter my WEP key? Does it have to be connected to my desktop pc at all? Or is this only for configuring router.
The other problem I have is I have tried to follow the instructions about connecting the LAN port from the router to my desktop pc and I then have to configure the router through the pc with the client manager software that was provided. I have loaded this up and everytime I try to start it it performs an illegal operation and will not enable me to connect to the router to configure. I have uninstalled and reloaded & the same thing happens. Is there any other software I can use instead?
I cannot find out what my WEP key is as the DS lite asks for that when I have the router connected to the phone line and I try to search for an access point.
Any help in trying to help a confused person would be appreciated.
