Realtek had been already installed on my laptop - HP pavilion dv6700 - when I bought it. I have Vista installed on it. When Realtek works properly each time I plug in the headphones, the notice appears that the jack has been plugged in. But at times Realtek refuses to work, the icon in the control panel dissapears, when I plug in the earphones they do not work although the dynamics still work as if I did not insert earhone plug into the slot. The notice that they were plugged in does not appear also. I tried all available driver updates, but the problem was not fixed. The only way to force the headphones to work is to either restart the laptop or shut down the Realtek and then switch it on again. The earphones and the slot are in order!
