Problem with new RAM

Hi,

I bought a new 512 MB PC3200 DDR RAM to my IBM Thinkpad A31 2652 laptop but after installing it and pressing the power bottom all I get is a blank screen. The laptop had originally two 128 MB PC2100 DDR RAM. Please help

The card fits perfectly in the slot. Also taking it out and in again does not make any difference

it is a black screen like if the laptop is still switched off

I tried it with and without the original RAM and in both slots

If you put the orginal ram back in and take the new out does it work again? Did you make sure to ground your self before touching any labntop part or the RAM?

ok since you guys just take up space I will tell you how it is

The most likely problem is that the ram is the wrong frequency.
I have done this with one of mym lan pc's before it will fit but the frequency is to high for your probobly old laptop.

Or you put it in wrong

Or you broke something

Or you are retarted

But try puting in the 512 and the 128 at the same time and check the bios and see if it reads the ram. If that doesnt work and you put it in right and it still gives you the black screen then return th ram and get the right frequency for your mobo.

I returned the PC3200 and got a PC2700 which is working fine
