Problem with Monitor upon Desktop

I am not sure if this is in the right area but I didn't know where to put it. I just got a new hard drive and installed windows on there. Problem is now everytime I get to the desktop screen from a reboot or regular boot up the monitor now turns off for about 1/2 a second and turns back on. It does it occasionally when I right click certain areas but never does it twice in a row. randomly. Is it a problem with the drivers or windows? God I hope I don't have to reinstal Windows, took me 8 hours to load everything and set everything... Any suggestions or fixes?

It is it changing resolution, from a low resolution whilst you have the XP logo and the loading bar to the resolution that you have you computer set at. Nothing to worry about - some monitors flash to standby, others don't.

When you right click however is a bit strange... If you open a program that is set to run at a different resolution then the same will happen but I don't know why it does it with the right click.

Maybe you should try running your computer at a different resolution for a start, if that doesn't work you may just have to live with it!

I'm sure someone else on here might have a better fix though! Hope that helps, Doug.

Well I have never had my computer do this before and I've had it for over 5 years. I just installed a new hard drive so I was thinking the drivers need to be reinstalled, but the last time I uninstalled the drivers and installed new ones it crashed and I had to reformat and i don't want to lose my data. It happenes at all resolutions because that was my first guess. I know my screen does the same thing when exiting video games but it also prompts me that it is doing so. What it is doing now doesn't even prompt me and does it at those times listed. I am stumped other than the video drivers...
