Problem with computer

Hello' I have a weird problem that I never experienced before. My computer, upon powering, won't show the picture. I tried to remove every piece of hardware to see if its mono fault, but I didn't hear any "special" beeps. It was just regular starting sound. All the fans are working, HDD and GPU are working too. I'm suspecting it may be mobo or cpu. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Are you still getting the 1 single post beep, or just no beep at all?

I just had to change motherboards around, and forgot to plug in the 4 prong plug up by the processor. After turning the system on, I got no post beep and nothing on screen. It took me a moment while scratching my head as to what the heck was going on. Then I remembered I had forgot to plug that one in. After plugging it in, it started up and ran like its supposed to.

If you are getting a single post beep, then you may need to reset CMOS (BIOS) settings. To get your screen to come back up. You might even have to re-seat your graphics card in the slot (meaning remove it from the slot and then put it back in, making sure it is plugged in all the way).

If none of this has any effect, I think the next step would be your power supply. How old is the system? How much dust accumulates in your system? When was the last time it was cleaned out?

Do you have access to another power supply? There are numerous things it could be but if you don't have access to certain items, it can and will be expensive to troubleshoot on your own. If your not into upgrading to a better system and have to get that system back up and running...the best thing you could do is take it in to your local computer shop to have it fixed.

Pretty much a lowend cheap power supply. Have you tried running it off the onboard video to see if it starts up?

Thanks for all your replies. I found out that motherboard 24-pin connector gave up. Mobo had "melted" a little. The isolation melted off and there were just 2 copper "wires" hanging.
