Problem in trying to instal Windows XP

Hi, I am trying to install Win XP on a computer I built from spare parts. So I insert the installation disk, and it acts like it normally would, then it gets to the part where it is loading the files, and it freezes when it gets to "Setup is is loading files (IEEE 1394 Bus OHCI Complaint Port Driver)". It hasn't even gotten to the initial asking of whether or not you want to install Win. If anyone has had this problem before, and has a solution, that would be great, and if somebody just knows what the issue is, your advise would be appreciated.

Thanks!

What could be wrong with the memory? Ok. so I restarted the process and now its freezing at different spots. I guess its the memory, but how would i fix this?

Try using different memory or if you have more than one stick take one out and then try again. Or you can download memtest and burn the image to a cd and then boot to it and it will test the memory.

Ok, well I seem to be having more problems with it now, I replaced the memory, but now the display isn't working, so I may save this one for next weekend. Thanks for the advise!

Most likely you may have bumped something while fiddling with the memory, double check to make sure everything is tight. You may have to reseat the video card if it has a dedicated card.

you can try to clean cd, use soap and planty of water to clean it. sometime finger print can make it "wrong", after it dry it with tissue, just try it ~~~if you still can't work it well.
i do it when i have this kind of problem.
