Printer refill

What is the correct way to refill a cartridge?

Should you put the syringe right to the bottom and lift a fraction (under the foam) -- Get ink pouring out of the jet nozzles.

Put in the Top and allow it to sink through itself- Does not seem to work?

How do you know when it is full- apart from overflowing at the top.?

What would you recommend as the best ink for refills?

Terry

Your best bet would be to not refill cartridges and just buy genuine replacements. It is too easy to ruin printers by refilling your own ink. Not worth it in my opinion.

Agreed. .........One thing though. If money is a problem some stores like Walgreen drug stores do refill or exchange. Did for years when younger but does not last as long. It will destroy a printer if overfill.

I would also stay away from DIY refills!

There is Cartridge World, which will professionally refill cartridges.

There are also re-manufactured cartridges, which are obviously not as high quality as genuine originals. They are usually around 60% of the price, and I've bought some before, they can have a tendency to leak.

I purchased a DIY refill kit from eBay some time ago, trying to get the ink to stay inside the cartridge was an absolute nightmare.

Honestly i tend to steer people to Laserjets due to cost of those damn cartridges...their a waste of money. You spend like 50 on the printer then over the lifetime of it you probably spent 10x the cost on ink...at least with a laser you tend to get 3x as many pages at the very least per toner cartridge, just people dont want to spend 100-300 dollars on a good printer...

I also have a HP designer jet 110 plus. Have 8 cartridges that my wife wanted.
Printing photos on shirts. That was a waste of money. Paid maybe a $1000 for it.
Keep my mouth shut. Only reason ive been married so long. Do everything she says.

Almost.....

meh i would have told her to take the photos to be printed professionally, 1000 for a crap printer...god im wanting to bang my head on the wall just hearing about it...

And you got to think about the printer's warranties, they won't warrant a printer with 3rd party ink in it if you do mess it up.

So the general consensus is that it is not worth it.

Next Question:
In your opinion who is the best (not necessary the cheapest) supplier of HP printer ink cartridges ( recycled/refilled)

Thanks
Terry

As stated above, I'd go to Cartridge World. They use pressurization to refill the cartridges and they provide a guarantee of their refills - if it doesn't work, they'll replace it. I don't think some of their refills have the HP chip in them so you can tell what level the ink is at, but it cost about 1/2 as much to get a cartridge at Cartridge World, than it does to buy an HP cartridge from a retail store.
