Power supply problem

I have a 430 watt ATX power supply. Upon testing an older board the board sparked and quit on me and when I put the power supply back in my working computer it will only start up for a brief moment then shut down. Any help would be appreciated thanks.

You need another supply. It sounds like something went on the spot right when you used it with the old board possibly a sudden surge or possible short to ground on the board itself. A short would pull on a weak capacitor in the supply to cause to go like that however.
