there is something wrong with a computer my mom brought home from work. when i plug in a monitor nothing happens. i tried several different monitors that work but none of them were working with this computer. a friend of ours that works on computers said it might be posting when we explained it to him. i was wondering if anyone knows what that means and if i can fix it myself.

i never heard of that. i think it could be the moniter port. has it worked before and does it have a different port on it. also does it show ANTthing on it. startup, bios, etc?

ok now the power button is just blinking orange. did i maybe leave something unplugged??? is there some way i can replace the port without replacing the motherboard???

its not bad ram. about the proc ( not sure what that is ) dont kno. and gpu ( is that same as cpu? ) not sure either. im kinda a computer noob when it comes to this sort of stuff so plz talk as if u were talking to a 15 year old ( im 15 )

i would try reseting the cmos. there should be a jumper by the sliver battery called like cmos or something. swith it and press the power button. and then move it back. or if you dont see it, take the battery out for 1 min and unplug everything and then put everything back and try again.

wht kinda response do u get frm ur pc? do any of the lights blink while the computer has been switched on ? and is thr a boot screen on ur monitor??

Thats for voltage, it should be set to 110-120v not 250 thats euro... But did you say the "orange blinking light" was on the monitor or computer?

so i need to open it up and do something with something??? sorry if this is aggravating : /

yes open up the case. on the motherboard, there will be a sliver button battery (small and round) take that out and remove the power cord and wait for 1 min. plug everything in and the battery back in and try to turn it on
