POST failed

when i turn my pc on, it fails post and gives 2 short beeps followed by 8 beeps. after 5 seconds it then does 2 short beeps followed by 1 beep. I have looked at the ami beep codes and it does not have anything for these codes? i need to know what has failed
 
Knowing a bit more about the computer and problem would help. Could you give us some specs on the machine. Motherboard make/model. When the problem occured. What (if anything) you did before the problem started. Has it worked before?

General stuff to try... Remove anything removable (well, CPU could probably stay if you haven't messed with it recently and it worked in the past) and try it with as little as possible (CPU, single stick of RAM, maybe video) See if it continues to act up, if you get the no video beep (1 long 2 short), etc etc.
 
okay it booted fine after leaving it for awhile but it did the same thing the other day so id like to get it fixed.

the pc specs are:
motherboard: asrock k7vm4
cpu: athlon 2600+
ram: 1gb stick
video: pci ati x1550


the pc is over 5yr old
