Possibly wtb old working computer

Hey guys, I havn't make any finals decisions yet, but I might be interested to buy an old working computer. It can't be absolutely ancient, I'm thinking Pentium 3 and above or equivalent. Atleast 128mb of ram.

Also, if anyone has a working motherboard, cpu, ram and harddrive, I maybe be interested in buying too. However, it has to be VERY cheap.
 
should have decided this before the compusa's finally closed

they were selling all of their computers from the offices for $25 a piece with a free monitor, keyboard, and mouse.
 
uhhmm i have a intel celeron i think not sure whether it's pentium 3 or 4. but it is working and for a few extra bucks i could add in a wireless card that came with it that i took out because with linksys you have to have windows XP to use the wireless. i have another computer that is a ME too but it has no hard drive BUT it is a pentium 3 and u said you want one. it has dvd drive though and cd burner but nothing else that is amazing...an internet card (not modem).

i could take pics if you want and i could run the system to check out the real specs.

Regarding the celeron processor, what's the clockspeed and how much. Also, for the computer without a hard drive, how much?

I cannot make offers at this time, however you can set a starting price and I will consider it. As for the processor speed, as long as it's cheap, i'll take it.

By the way this is for the suitcase computer i've been trying to build with my friend a while ago. I think we're gonna work on it again this summer and hopefully finish it. Since this is our first time, we want really cheap parts, so in case we break them, it won't be as bad.

90 (for both comps)? If so, I will probably be interested. Do run it and see that it's in operational condition and post up some detailed specs. And take some pictures if you have time :) Please hold on to the computers for a bit if you can.
 
I have all kinds of older computers, from 533MHz to 2.6Ghz and much in between. I also have lots of IDE hard drives from 1-40GB, and pretty much any other component you could want.

Can you peice together a compatible package of motherboard, cpu, ram and harddrive? If so, letme know and put a pricetag on it. Please be considerate, i am on a pretty low budget :o.
 
There's a computer recycling store near me that was selling some Intel celeron 500mhz, 256MB RAM, 20GB HDD, windows 2000 pro. For $35 and then shipping so if you want we might be able to set something up where you pay me part and then I go get one and ship it to you you pay me the rest. :)

Do you know about how much it'll cost for shipping? Also, how long are they selling them for? I need to talk with my friend/parents, but if they agree, I'll probably pay you $55 ($35 + $20) + shipping if you pick one up for me and test it out and stuff, so you're making 20 bucks.
 
I could definitely hook you up with a 533Mhz Pentium + Mobo + Network Card + 256MB RAM + CD Burner + 20GB HDD + 300w(ish) PSU for $65 shipped. you just want the components, and not the case, correct?

I don't know about shipping but I will look into it :), Don't know how long there on sale for ether :P but I will check, and they run them in the shop for a couple of days I think before selling them so they run fine but I I'd be happy to test it any way. :)

So I will post back maybe later tonight or tomorrow with some more information.

Yup, we don't need the case, cause we're stuffing it all into a suitcase. As long as they are all compatible and are in working conditions I will be interested.

Ok sweet, thanks. I just called my friend and he said that it's a go. So i just have to ask my parents sometimes. I guess it's down to you and PohTayToez, see who can get it the cheapest after shipping ;).

Okay just a bit odd you know :D, any let's see I know the optical drive is not standard but more like a laptop's, and the RAM I think is standard and I don't know about the rest, sorry. But I can find out later :D. And do you have a ZIP code more or less near you so I can check on shipping?
