Okay, I have a router and 2 RJ-45 cables to hook it up to and my PCs. I have never done this and was wondering how. Me and my brother want to hook our PCs up to play a LAN game. Is it possible to do it with what I have? Also, how would I go about doing it?

umm im not quite sure on the exact details but i kno that both comps should be connected to the router and you can set up a LAN by going to control panel and set up a network by using the network wizard.

To set up the gaming, you need to use the game's settings, afaik
After you have the network set up, of course. :D

I'm asking how to set up a network. should it just be as easy as going to the control panel and doing the setup connection thing? I am using a D-Link ethernet broadband Router that has 4 numbered ports and one labeled WAN.

Just hook up one computer in to one of the numbered ports and the other computer into another numbered port, then use the network setup wizard to join the same network, fiddle with it a little bit, and then it should work. Notice I say should work:D Networks are quite finicky

I assume that you are using XP. If so, then go to the control panel and double click on the network setup wizard.
