I'm curious, is it possible to host a website right from my computer? Is there a program that can do this? I'm guessing no and you need a server to do this, but I wanted to check.
 
I think I saw somewhere you can. But you would need to make sure you ISP allows it.
Also shouldn't this be in the internet section?
 
I know there are websites such as freewebs.com and others, however for a professional website like my dad's business he wants a .com address. I was just curious if we could host it directly from our computer.
 
You can host from your personal machine; the limiting factor will be your ISP :) (and indirectly, the amount of traffic you're going to get)
