Popping and Crackling

I have a Realtek High Definition Audio sound card in my toshiba laptop. Recently the all audio and video begins to pop. It will work fine for like 30mins or so but then will begin poppin, crackling and even slowing down. I use the latest edition of the Klite codec package but even reinstalling that doesn't change anything. Does anyone have any idea why this could be happening?

I recommend you check for "Hardware Interrupts" with Process Explorer. If it's high, then you might have a hardware conflict. Worst case scenario is that a hard drive might be dying soon.

Of course it can be something not as serious but I've had the same kind of symptoms. It was the hard drive, that the files we're being read from, that was dying.

Used the procexp program but it doesn't really seem to show any reason why it should pop and crackle. The problem is still persisting. No matter what media player i use or codec i use it pops and crackles. Any other suggestions?

Don't worry your hard drive isn't gonna die. The pops and clicks are from a short in either your sound card or speakers.
