Poor signal?

I have just successfully set up a wireless router at home. The wired computer is on the main floor, with the second being upstairs (and about 25 feet to the side).

The upstairs computer seems to connect just fine most of the time however yesterday it was losing signal. When I go into network properties and click "repair" the connection seems to come back.

What else can I do to ensure a steady network connection? Could the heavy rain affect a wireless connection within a house?

Thanks for your help,
W.

There could have been some interference from a cell or wireless phone, or even bluetooth headset... Are you still having the problem? Or does it seem random?

Seems random to me. I'll get the beasts started when I get home today and let you know.

The signal strenght was 'good' but maybe a more powerful router is required?

oh and our phones are both 2.4ghz maybe their placement has something to do with it?

If they were being used it could be a problem, but you would simply need to change the channel the signal is broadcast on. More powerful router? No, not necessarily. But wireless will always have problem, nobody can guarantee their signal will always work... If you need a guaranteed signal, wire the connection.
