I have a dell studio 1737 laptop that keeps asking for a password to enter the "phoenix securecore (tm) setup utility" but i dont have the password. What do i do? Why wont it just start like it used to?

seems like a bios password, phoenix is the bios in you laptop, have tried the obvious things like PASSWORD, OR 1234, OR 0000, if you cant find the correct password you will have to reset it, or call your laptop or bios maker to find out what their default password is.

If it is a BIOS password which I agree it sounds like you need to call DeLL. If you had ever reset I hope DeLL has a default. I am 100% certain that talking about cracking a BIOS password is not allowed on this site.

Good luck.

Is there anyone else that uses the laptop that maybe assigned a bios password? If so, you better ask them. Bios passwords don't get enabled by themselves.

no one mentioned cracking anything or any cracking software !

That is where it is going, you are the one who said it sounded like a BIOS password. I don't have to get kicked in the head by a horse to know not to stand behind one.;)

Edit: I use cracking very loosely as any method of defeating. Being that you can't run application on a boot locked system. You know things like taking apart and removing the CMOS batt or any other method?;):)

Disengage your laptop, remove the CMOS battery and leave it like that for 15 minutes then return it back and put all your laptop parts together.

IF THIS IS THE HARD DISK DRIVE PASSWORD THEN REMOVING THE CMOS BATTERY WON'T HELP!!!You will need to send it to a special service in order to unlock the hard disk drive!!!

Anyway if its not the hard disk drive, just do what I told you.If you don't know how to do that,I can do it for you.I have done couple of services like this for reseting the BIOS by removing the CMOS battery.
The price depends on the problem type and its size.

If you want to do this for free, then do it by yourself and good luck lol.:D

Cheers!
