please help with sound set up

hello with my set up i have a xbox and a desktop hooked up to my led tv with hdmi cables, now i have headphones hooked up to the audio out on my tv. so that way what ever channel im on the sound will come out of my headphones. but when i play xbox then switch to my desktop which is on it wont recognize the tv as a audio source so i was wondering if there was a way to have it so it would always remember the tv as the default. if their are any more question about my set up please feel free to ask. thank you and thanks for reading

What brand is the TV? Mines an LG and sometimes my xbox has real trouble using my TV as an audio source.. apparently it's something to with LG TV's. It could be something related to that. Also my Laptop sometimes doesnt recognise the TV as an audio source and it takes a good couple of replugs of the hdmi to get it to cooperate.
