Please help! Low connectivity or limited connection

Connectivity or Limited connection Error.

P4 with 512mb of ram
Running windows XP SP2
No router
wire going straight from pc network card to DSL modem
Speed stream 5100 DSL modem.

Issue:

I recently upgraded my DSL connection to a higher speed of 6mbs download and 700 upload.
I was told to turn off my receiver and then turn it on it everything should star working fine.
All worked well for about 20 minutes and then It all became very slow.
This continues on, I have tried to reboot the computer, tried rebooting the DSL modem, have tried reformatting my pc and nothing solves this issue.
I’m able to connect to the internet and it works great for about 15-30 minutes and then it all slows down to where I can’t even browse from page to page.

Can anyone think of something?

Just as an observation, My DSL worked fine before the day I upgraded.

Well you might try consulting your ISP.

You might try...

1 - If you are required to use phone filters, ensure every jack has one properly set up
2 - RESETING the modem. (There might be a reset button on it..if not just
unplug for a bit)
3 - disabling and re-enabling your network card in "Network Connections"


I had dsl for a few weks a while back. I had DSL Lite, then upgraded. It gave me the same message and after about 20 mins on the phone with a Bell rep, they finally tell me "you're too far away from the base to recieve high speed internet. You'll have to revert back to DSL Lite"

Turn off your dsl modem for about 10 minutes and turn it back on. I have had that problem, and that is what worked for me.
