please help LAN advice

HI there.. I recently bought a new mobo , an Abit K7V hoping to get the best from the last of the athlon processors a 3200. I loaded win 98 se and everything was working fine except the lan -internet connection. My ISP provides a cd for connecting to the broadband and I have done it many times without any trouble .With this new mobo it wont connect and I get an error message of " DHCP release/renew failed, no network adapters set to DHCP". I have come back online using my original comp with an asus A7V8X and win98se without any trouble..Please could anyone help with this problem and possibly suggest why I cannot connect using the lan.. Try reinstalling the drivers for the network port. Your lan device isn't recognizing your network port so it isn't picking up an IP address.
 
in your TCP/IP configuration make sure that it is set to automatically aquire an IP address from DHCP. if it is already set to that, go into your command console, and type IPCONFIG/RELEASE ALL then IPCONFIG/RENEW ALL
