Hi, I just installed windows 2000 into my laptop, I have and IBM I series laptop so it is a bit older but runs good, I also installed a Linksys(R) wireless-g card, Well i want it to network with my XP computer so i can pass around large files and stream music to it, Well i made sure both computers had the Same workgroup name, "WORKGROUP", Well when i try to open "Entire Network" in Network Places on my Laptop it says "Unable to browse the network. The network is not present or not started." So i went to microsoft and they said go to the Regisrty and fix it by doing this "1. Start Registry Editor (Regedt32.exe) and go to the following key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control
\NetworkProvider\Order
2. On the Edit menu, click Add Value.
3. Enter the following value:
Value Name: ProviderOrder
Data Type: REG_SZ
Value: LanmanWorkstation"
Well that also did not work, and i am stuck i would really like some help on how to fix this, my msn/email is [email protected]
