I don't know about a video but, how about something like Ulead DVD Pictureshow? it works well. Most proggy's like Nero and others will give you the same effect. Ulead will allow you to import movies and pictures easily.
I did a slideshow in NC for about 250 people. the way i did it was created a directory called slideshow. Pick your music carefully. this is not just for you. Young and old have a need to associate with the music and time frame. Create a directory called chapter one then two and three. I had about 24 chapters and 1200 pictures scanned with microtek and slides, negatives with Nikon coolscan.
Drop your music MP3 into each directory. Goto explorer and prompt the mp3. it will show the length. Maybe 3:00 minutes. a picture does not need much more than 5 sec. i chose 4 sec. divide that by say 5 sec for simplicity. that will tell ya how many pictures for each chapter or song. rename the song and add the minutes or sec to the end. it will make your life easier. (in case you forgot).
Drop your number of pictures needed to complete the slideshow into each chapter. there are many programs that will recorrect the timing as needed.
Its very nice since my family (parents) would and had mostly slides. My dad always marked on the slide the date and where. My shows were not done hap hazardously. A lot of thought, timing, choosing music for the majority will bring many memorys for all. besides thinking your an expert. of course thats not true. they just know a lot less than me.
I hope this will help.
One other thing comes to mind. Photo editing. i used Paint shop pro. I took classes in Photoshop Elements. I really liked this proggy but was done with Pro. Save your pictures as tiff files. then edit. never the originals.
