I'm trying to design a marquee for my new flying MAME arcade cabinet.

Here are my two designs as of now:

Which one do you think looks better?

Also do you think I should use a better background, and if so what do you think it should be?

I like the bottom one, though you need to right click on that layer and use blending options. It'll make it look smooth, and remove the cropping lines.

Agreed, thanks for the feedback!

Here's an update:

and the matching control panel:

Still a work in progress but they're getting there. Any comments welcome as I am still new to this and I know a lot of you work with Photoshop quite a bit.

How many roms you have?
You should post a pic of you cabinet.
Im also working on one, it a old killer instinct cabinet.

And i like the top one.

This will be my third cabinet, and first sit-down. Ill post pics when I get it together as right now it's in pieces.

As far as roms go I have thousands but only use maybe 100 of them.

It's a great hobby, lots of fun to build and to play!

I dont think i have that many roms, This is my second cabinet. And i agree its a great hobby. My dad owns a slot shop were we sell and service Slot Machines and Arcade Games. I eventually Want to put a 360 in a cabinet. Heres a pic of me working on mine.

I just installed a new Jamma harness in this one so I could use my J-Pac to run it. Only problem I have is the two 21" arcade monitors I bought I can't get working :( Looks like I'll have to use a PC monitor again.

Have you testes all the capacitors on the board? What exactly do they do? Hey a Pc monitor if mounted in there wont look to bad.
