Persistent periodic internet crash

Once on an hour or so the internet connection on my computer would suddenly stop, often in the middle of me loading a page. The only way I could get it back on again is either restart my computer or do a quick repair. Since my internet provider is Shaw and they have free technical support, I phoned them about this problem

The first guy didn't really do anything, checked off settings in local area network configuration.

The second time, the guy told me to go to registry editor, and renewed Winsock and Winsock2

The third time, they guy told me to reinstall the network card.

The problem persists. I'm beginning to think it's either a really sneaky virus/spyware or something is up with my network card/modem. If someone can point me in the right direction, maybe tell me what the problem is, and how to solve it, I would be extremely grateful.

I cannot do a System Restore, because I installed a lot of new hardware on the computer with their software. I'm not going through that hell again.

Thanks in advance!

Weird...never heard it before, sounds awfully sarcastic to me :P Anyway I will try this! It sounds like it will work. Thanks a bunch.

Nope, doesnt work. I've also tried System Restore, but it wont work either. I've now figured out that the internet crashes once every hour, exactly at 20 minutes into the hour. DOes this help at all? PLease help me.

Hmmm... that really sounds like a virus to me. Have you tried several different virus scanners?

You should probably post a hijack this log.
