Performance Problems

I have had a Panasonic Let's Note CF-W5 laptop for about 2.5 years. My performance has been a huge problem over the last few months. I do not use it for video games or for graphics. Basically, I use browsers to surf the net or go to regular websites, I use it for watching videos, I use outlook express as an e-mail client, and I often use Microsoft Word or similar applications. Even when running only a small number of applications at the same time I have problems and freezing.

I recently re-installed XP. I have been using super-anti spyware, to keep the junk out. The other day I went out and bought 1GB of memory to add to my existing memory. Now I have 1.5 GB total. The guy at the shop recommended getting a new HD.

Any other recommendations aside from buying a new PC

You still could be infected. Please follow the instructions here and post the requested logs.

Also, XP does sometimes gets corrupted and does slow down. In 2.5 years, it might just need to get a fresh install. I wouldn't replace the hard drive unless you ran a diagnostic on it and it failed the test.
