People with the worst movie taste..whats the deal with that?!

I listen to a lot of my friends (about 65 percent of them) talk about movies and look at the thread "movies you seen recently here" and I just don't get what people like about the movies they recommend .

Why did everyone like..

The dark knight rises- explain to me what you liked about it?!

The Avengers-It had a weak plot and it was just 24/7 action.

Inglorious bastards- Liked the dialog but thought it was overrated

Wrath of the Titans

Seed of Chuky

The dictator

Battleship

Rock of ages

I am not calling out anyone specifically, but that could of been worse then the avengers and everyone told me that movie was good

I like movies like :

No Country for old men
The Jacket
Godfather
T2
Titantic- YES I said it!
Alien
Shawshank redemption
Memento
The Bourne Identity
Pulp Fiction
Driver
City of God
Life is beautiful
The Ides of march

Okay I can admit the jacket wasn't that great but I personally liked it

do I have bad taste? If you have a taste similar to me could you recommend something :)

I didn't care for a lot of the extra crap thrown in Dark Knight Rises, but c'mon. Christian Bale is a beast Batman.
 
I quite liked Battleship, but I didn't like Wrath of the Titans at all.

I really don't watch many films at all though. I get bored too easily.

Why is this in the General Computer Chat?

I wouldn't say bad, nor good. Personalty, I haven't seen any of those, except for two, Alien and The Bourne Identity.

Everybody's likes and dislikes are different. For instance, I absolutely hated Perfect Storm because I got pissed at those greedy a$$holes that ignored all the warnings they were given and stayed out to try and make more money. I didn't mind so much that they all died, as far as I was concerned they deserved it, but it really irked me that they got a Coast Guardsman killed trying to rescue them from their own stupidity.
 
I liked both the dark night rises and the avengers. Move taste is just a matter of opinion, and just because some people like a movie and you don't it doesn't make the movie bad. It's all a matter of viewpoint and what you get out of the movie.

From what i've found is the movies that currently are perceived to be good ie the ones people go pay money at the cinema are just over hyped by marketing and due to the high cinema intakes are justified as good even though everyone knows they're over hyped. If anyone can say the avengers was better than say Leon then they're younger than 14 bascially. Some movies critics look further than pure sales in their reviews - rotten tomatoes is one of them.

To OP; Leon, The tree of life, the fountain, Hotel Rwanda, The Last King of Scotland, The Departed, Donnie Darko, Pan’s Labyrinth, O Brother, Where Art Thou?, In the Loop (british humour), Half Nelson, There Will Be Blood
Some of those you will hate but hopefully theres one or two you like

added: the hurt locker + taxi driver and anything by quentin tarantino (he is over hyped tho)
