PDF Reading device???

Hi, I'm looking for some advice...

I'm a tradesman and need to access cirtain PDF files from time to time, things like regulations etc. anyway I have these files on my office PC but this is no good to me out in the field. So I'm looking for some sort of mobile device which can display them for me.

I thought of a cheap laptop at first, but this is not ideal because I would have to bring it in every night or so to charge it etc - I want something which can hold it's charge for a long time so I can leave it in the van and know it will work when I need it.

It needs to hold about 8GB of files, read PDF's obviously and be relatively cheap!

Anyone have any suggestions??

There's the iPad 2...:D
But I guess that doesn't necessarily fall into the cheap category.
Have you looked at the Amazon Kindle?

Sounds like the Kindle 2 is exactly what you need. Reads PDFs and the battery can last about a month on one charge if you don't use the wireless.

Thanks for those suggestions, I looked at the Kindle bu out only has 3GB of available storage. I don't think it accepts any kind of memory card, does it?

have you thought of a cheap smartphone, i have a samsung galaxy europa, it was very cheap under £100, you can download adobe reader for your pdf files and it can take a micro sd card up to 32gb

The original Kindle has an SD slot to upgrade the storage, but does not have native PDF support. However, it's possible to convert PDFs to be readable on it, so if you're always referencing the same PDFs you would only have to do it once.

I actually have a samsung galaxy and was thinking about using that, but like you say the screen is a bit too small and the phone of really slow anyway so I couldn't imagine how slow it would be with all them files on!

Looks like it'll have to be done kind of netbook - can anyone recommend one? - got to be cheap!
