Hello everyone, I'm not sure if this is the right category for this..

I'm trying to install windows 8.1 from usb stick (SanDisk Cruzer blade-8gb) but my pc wont boot from it.
PC:
Mobo: Asus p5k pro
Proccesor: Intel q6600

Seems like the comp recognize's the usb drive, but it doesn't load windows installation...

This is what I do: power up -> pressing f8 (for boot menu) -> choosing the usb flash drive ->
and then I get a black screen with blinking cursor :(

I tried to disable all HDD's apart of USB drive - still black screen when i load the stick~
I tried to disable 'fast boot' on BIOS options - did't work~

If its important to be mentioned, I used "Rufus 1.4.1" to create the bootable usb flash drive and it works perfectly on my new pc.

I am out of ideas, and any help is appreciated.
Also thank you in advance!

You probably need to disable Secure Boot in the BIOS.

hey mate, thanks for a quick response!!
but I cant find that option in my bios,
what are the chances that its missing from my bios?

I have quick boot option which i've already disabled.

You have an older motherboard and won't have the secure boot option. Instead of doing the boot menu, go into the bios and choose usb as first boot device and see what happens. Since your usb works ok in another computer, I can only assume its something with the pc.

What option are you selecting from the startup menu? Are you selecting "Removable Disk" or Hard Drive? Most USB's show up under the Hard Drive category, except on some machines.

I just did, but then I get black screen with blinking cursor.. and nothing happens..

the SanDisk (usb stick) shows up under "Hard disk drives"..
On my bios boot category I have "Boot device priority" and "Hard disk drives" options, Also tried to set the usb as the first hard drive on both options - then I get same results (black screen with blinking cursor) :(.

I just noticed that there is 2 ways of making bootable stick with "Rufus"~
1. GPT partition scheme for UEFI computer
2. MBR partition scheme for BIOS and UEFI computer

I've made mine with GPT partition scheme,
maybe I have to remake it with MBR partition scheme?

Yes, try with mbr. Your older motherboard probably don't recognize the GPT since its a newer format.
