Hey guys my computer will not boot up. I can tell it tries to because the blue light comes on, on the pc. There is a light on the motherboard and the light comes on, on the keyboard. The fans also try to turn.
I get nothing on the screen either. Any idea's guys?
Thanks.
Jeff

test your monitor on another computer and video card in another system if you can.

if that has nothing try jumper reset

Try booting with one stick of RAM

Ensure all PSU connections are solid

Check to see if GPU properly seated

Try your GPU in another computer

Reset CMOS

Boot using another monitor

Can you clear cmos with the computer off?
Tried it with 1 stick of ram and no go.
I do not think it has anything to do with the screen because the pc will not boot up. It's a 2 month old 32" that i am using so it should not be the problem. I am a n00b so please explain what you tell me.
Thanks for the help so far.

To clear the CMOS you can turn it off, and then look on the motherboard for a set of pins, like CMOS, or CLEAR or w/e. Varies from board to board, will be in the manual. Anyway, take the jumper of, turn the pc on, it'll probably say something about a clear BIOS/CMOS, turn the pc off, put the jumper where it was, then it should be cleared. Then you can enter the BIOS and set it to all defaults or whatever you'd like.

Thanks for the replies. I do not understand why i would be able to clear bios if the computer will not come on? why would it come on suddenly? Or am i just entering something on the motherboard?
It is not a new build. It is a little over a 2 years old.
When i click the on button it comes to life for like not even a second. The fans try to turn and the light comes on the keyboard and front of the pc. I get no post or even the normal check beep since it wont stay on that long.
I can look but i am not sure i can find where to dc the jumpers since i have never done it nor done a pc build. I do not have the manual since i bought the pc from someone.

does anyone have any idea's? I gotta get this fuxed while i have the money if i need to get something fixed.

You can download the manual for the motherboard from the manufacturers website.
It will show you where the power/reset button is connected - in case any of those
wires have come lose.

It sounds like a power supply or motherboard problem.

Test your computer:

Boot it with the minimum components:

- PSU
- Motherboard
- CPU + heatsink
- 1 stick of ram
- Video card (If there is no integrated graphics)

If it doesn't POST, take out the stick of ram, and try with another stick.

You can also test it without the video card - if there is a motherboard
speaker. It will beep if it POSTs - so you won't have to check visually
on the monitor if it did.

Tell us what happens.

All i was told is it has a Asus P5nsli Motherboard. I am not sure what version it is. Does anyone know how i can find out?

any more help? It still wont boot. I replaced the power supply with a new one and now i get no sign of life except the green light on the mobo
I have no clue what model of mobo it is either all i know is that its a 2.8ghz p5nsli mobo with a red heatsink and brownish board.
I really would like some input here guys
Thanks much
Jeff

Man...lately it seems like this place has slowed down. I can't get a answer or even idea's from anyone. I really need to fix my pc or build something new? I need some input. I think it's either the mobo or PSU.
I put a 450 watt power supply in it and it shows no signs of life but i do get a green light on the mobo. It had a 550 watt power supply in it so could that be the issue? or should it still boot up with a 450 watt power supply?
If you are reading this please give me some insight and not pass it up.
Jeff!
