PC Keeps Disconnecting

well, not exactly. several times a day my internet will cut out, but in my network connections it shows that it's still connected. i used to reboot to get back online, but after about 50 times, i figured out that right clicking my network adapter and choosing disable, then enable will get me back on. it's becoming a pain in the ass.

it all started when i upgraded my cpu from an fx-57 to an fx-60. i did flash my bios before the upgrade, and my ethernet adapter is on my mobo, not a pci card. system specs are in my sig. i have cable internet (comcast), and a linksys wired router (to share the internet connection with my daughters pc)..

any help would be appreciated.

hmm... how old is the Modem? I had the same problem. Do you have a PCI Ethernet card u can test too see if ur LAN Port built into MOBO isn faulty? If possible borrow another modem too see if its your end or the modem.

my daughters pc doesn't get booted, so i know it's not the modem. i've tried different ports on the router, even switched between the two pc's, same problem, so i know it's not the router.

i think the bios flash may have done it. it was fine before, and i don't think a cpu change would do it. i guess there's no way to revert to ty previous bios revision to see, huh? if i get an ethernet card, would the problem go away as i'm not using onboard?

I am having the exact same problem. When the internet quits working, are you on a certain program that uses the internet? Whenever mine quit working, I was using a program that uses the internet like a P2P program. How long does it stay connected until it disconnects?

I hope someone can answer your question as it would help me out too.

If your daughters isnt loosing connection i would look into the NIC on your computer. There are times where these go bad and its a simple fix.

what do you mean? i don't know what nic means. i am on firefox, and sometimes i get ''paged can't be displayed'' but it still shows that it's connected. my daughter's pc does not have this problem and the connection is shared on the same router.

it's just an asus a8v. no other suffix or anything. if i put an ethernet card in it, you think the problem would go away as i wouldn't be using the built in one?
