i'm sorry if this is in the wrong part of the forum... feel free to move it if you need to :)

well i shut down my PC fine on saturday night, but on sunday when i switched it on nothing happened. my brother reckons it's the PSU and i've had issues getting the computer to turn on lately... usually i just take out the plug at the back and put it back in and it works.

the only thing is that the motherboard light is still on, and it goes on and off when i flick the power at the back which means the PSU is working? or is the PSU not completely dead but not capable of handling the whole machine?is there anything else which could be the problem?

would really appreciate some help, thank you :)

Most likely a bad psu. Won't know until you switch it with a different one that you know works. However, it could be a bad motherboard as well. Only proper diagnosing will tell you.

Best solution is switch out part at a time with parts you know work. If your brother is willing to take his system apart you can at least find out if its your PSU. In order to know if your psu could handle the load we would need hardware specs cpu/gpu/etc.

Next time you have a similar issue fix it BEFORE it craps out especially if its the psu. Should a PSU die there is a chance it could take all the parts its plugged into with it.

thank you the the replies. i'm gonna try to switch it with my brother's PSU first of all. if that doesn't work then i will post an update :)
