Can I Network windows 95 and windows xp. with a lp1 cable (Parallel)

Once before I used the parallel cable to connect a notebook running Windown ME to my desktop running XP pro and it worked just like this, Win XP as the server and the ME as the client. Your case should work the same, but bare in mind you will need a floppy disk in the process to copy the network settings to the Machine running the 95, the win XP network wizard will ask you for this.
