I was looking into installing Pacman on my iPod Nano:
http://ipodlinux.org/Ipodmame

I'm havin trouble on understanding on how to actually install it on the iPod, could someone paraphrase for me?

Also, is this risky? I have no interest in totalling my new Nano, and if it's too risky I won't do it. However, if it is safe I would love to put it on.

Thanks,
John

I'll give it a try and tell you how it went. Ever given ipodwizard a try? You can change strings, colors, images, fonts, etc. There's many cool mods you can make. It is a bit risky, but anything (Besides messing up the firmware to the point of Windows not even being able to detect it as USB storage; which would be VERY difficult to do) can be repaired with the HP USB Disk Storage Format Tool. If you do mess up your ipod the people at http://www.ipodwizard.net/index.php are life savers. You can also contact me, since I've "broken" my ipod a few times and successfully resurrected it every time.

I'll get back to you on the pacman thing.

<edit>

It requires ipodlinux, which is still in development for the 4th and 5th Generation models. I would wait.

My friend put it linux on there, but he said it messed up the partitions or something and it was broken for a few weeks.

But nothing that I could do would permanetly break it right? Only be an inconvienance in reinstalling firmware or something, right?

Ya, i read the ipod linux forum and it had many topics about people killing their ipods but they managed to get it working again.

Ya he got it back to the original settings.

Well, I think you missed my edit. I would try pacman, but it requires ipodlinux which is still in development for 4g+ . I would just wait if I were you.
