Overclocking questions.

I want to make a computer for overclocking and I wanted to ask a few questions.
Which motherboard is better for OC, and I like to have a good looking BIOS.

And what is a good CPU cooler that cools well and looks good as I'm getting a case with a window.

Plus is there any recommendations that I should change my case to another for cooling and price reasons, I'm getting the cooler master cm stryker.

And will case fans be enough or should I buy more fans, if so what fans are good?

UD5H should be a much better board for overclocking (more power phases). I've used one of those UD5Hs and they're all round great boards.

If you want the cleanest look possible go for one of the H-series water coolers from Corsair, H60 would be good I reckon. If you want an air cooler, the NH-D14 is good, but it is large, so you need to make sure your RAM can fit underneath the cooler. That won't be a worry with the H60.

The CPU you choose is also important, which CPU have you got? For best overclocking results you want a K-series chip.

The case you've chosen should be fine for overclocking. :) It should already come with case fans installed, so you don't need to buy any more unless you feel it doesn't come with enough or you think your temperatures are too high.

I read that the sandybridge's are better for oc'ing due to it being cooler. Should I get a i7 or i5 which one would you recomend

It's a good PSU. :) Bit overkill though, 1000W? Why'd you need 1000W?

Depends what you use your PC for. What are you doing most of the time on your PC?

As for SB vs IB, yeah it's true that SB can sometimes run cooler than IB once OC'ed, but really they're all good overclockers. As IB is newer and supports things like PCI Express 3.0 which SB does not, I'd get an IB chip.

Oh so I should stick with a 3770k and I was going to overclock the 680 so I thought my original psu wouldn't be enough for oc'ing an i7 and a 680
My original psu; http://www.mwave.com.au/sku-3404073...eries_Power_Supply_ATX12V_v231_EPS12V_v292_80

Original PSU will be fine unless you want to run two 680s.

Stick with your 3770K, will overclock fine. Have you bought anything yet?

Do you really need the 3770K? What do you use your PC for? If just gaming, then go for the i5 3570K (overclocks pretty much the same). I'd only get the 3770K if you really feel that you could do with the extra threads.

I'm going to use it for school and eventually programming and game design so I guessed the 3770k would suit me best unless I was wrong.

Once you think you've got an overclock set up you should download Prime95 and stress test the overclock for 5 hours at least and monitor your temperatures too. If it crashes or you get a blue screen, adjust your overclock a bit.

Okay, thanks for your help. Is there anything else I should know about overclocking and cooling before I get my parts?

The noctua and the silver arrow cool better then an h60. If you want a good watercooler you'll have to spend more and get the h80.
The extreem edition from silver arrow sb-e is awesome btw. (Have the normal version and I'm getting 69-71 degrees max on 4.8ghz. Have also a sidefan installed next to the cooler so it blow against the heatpipes).
If you want to see my case without side fan:

It looks very nice (Idk you like it), the extreme edition is red.
Hope they sell thermalright in your shop, the noctue is between those silver arrows (performance) and is a really nice cooler too. It looks almost the same in style.

It also depends on your case, take a big one if you don't got it yet so a sidefan can be placed next to a big aircooler.
Watercoolers are expensive, but will not use much room in your case.
Also pay attention on your ram, I could lift mine high enough (with a bit force) to get it above my ripshaws.

The silver arrow sb-e is new from this year (the normal silver arrow (no sb-e) was introduced in 2010), so it can be you won't find it in Australia.
