I'm looking into building my own gaming computer, and have been using this site to pretty much figure what everything does. All the 101's and things are really good and have made me much more knowledgeable about computers, and I really want to thank you for that wonderful resource. However, they were posted in 2005, way back in ancient history when regarding computers :P. I know, they're not really that old, but I'm wondering: Do they still apply now? If not, where can I find current information? I do want to get a good gaming computer - but not from four years back.

Which 101 are you referring to specifically? For the most part the only thing that changes are the best products to use, the facts and guides don't change that much.

I think the simply edit the posts...so it might have been made in 05 but it gets updated often.

Well, specifically it was the AMD vs Intel for processors. Several places, here, for example say that AMD is no longer the go-to chip for gaming. Of course, that doesn't mention the Phenom 2 or the i7, which seem to be the leading series for each brand. Also what I'm wondering is about DDR3 RAM: it's not mentioned at all in the memory 101. I suppose that's about it for now, until I get enough money to start seriously looking around to buy. It seemed like I had a lot more, and so I was asking one question rather than lots, but since I only have two I suppose I might as well just bother you with them :P
