OS Not Found. Virus?

I unplugged my comptuer and took it with me for a trip. When I got there, I hooked it up and turned it on to find the message saying OS not found. After a bit of troubleshooting, I decide to take off the battery for the motherboard. Turned it back on and it worked. But my video is not the same anymore, internet certificates are missing, icons are missing on some programs. Could this have been the work of a virus?

Definately... that would explain the no os found problem. but i dont know about his other problems after he got his os back up.

Either way looks like you will have to redownload some certs and reinstall some things.
 
try and go to the website of the harddrive brand you have, and download a diagnostic tool. run the program and make sure your drive is ok...
 
i suspected it to be a virus, did a reformat, and runs smooth like butter. why a virus? well i've been downloading some recovery sw for my memory card, along with other programs, my antivirus picked up on a few troys. also, my harddrive is fairly new. i eliminated all hw issues.
