Hey I just bought an old Dell Optiplex GX520 for £20.
Its a fairly fast computer and great for working on, but its poor for playing any game made in the past five or so years. Just wondeing if its possible to upgade this computer for some modern games like the Mass Effect Series and Total War.

The GX520 I have is the one shown below.

Heres the info,
Operating System: Microsoft Windows XP Professional (5.1, Build 2600)
BIOS: Phoenix ROM BIOS PLUS Version 1.10 A07
Chip Type: Intel(R) 82945G Express Chipset Family
Processor: Intel(R) Pnetium(R) D CPU 3.00GHz (2 CPUs)
Memory: 1014MB RAM

From searching google I've found that the motherboard in this computer doesn't have a PCI-Express or AGP Graphics card slot. However, without knowing much about computers, can't I just swap out the motherboard along with a new power supply and then buy a decent graphics card?

Not certain on my budget, but a few hundred pounds. £300? Maybe more if needs be.

Much Thanks, Joe.

Defiantly not man... I had a similar computer about 4-5 years ago and I put money into it... then finally updated to a C2D and Asus Mobo and it was Night and Day... I don't know where to buy components in the US but I used to get them from http://www2.atelco.de when I lived in Germany... Not sure if you could save money since the pound is worth more than the euro... there is probably some import tax

Void all that above just go with linkin haha

I think he could keep the case he has got and downgrade to a RADEON HD 6770.

Until you save up for a new case just use the dell case.
Keep the HDD out of the Dell aswell just until you can gain some more cash for a new one.
With the downgrade to the 6770 that cash he saved could be used to buy a decent PSU.
