Optical splitter

Hi, not sure if I have the right place, I have just bought a bluray surround system and have connected my pc via optical cable, the problem I have is I want the Sky and xbox also connected in the same way, I have found an optical splitter and was wondering if this will reduce the sound quality at all, does anyone know

For a house hold set up you will be ok, for commercial applications in a business complex would be different issue due to long cable runs.
