onboard sound

Okay I have an Soundblaster Audigy 4 card. In the properties of the sounds and audio, it shows my cd and dvd drives(why?), my sound card and below that it says audio codecs and legacy audio drivers. I am guessing that is for onboard sound, correct? If so could I disable all of the audio compression codecs under the properties of audio codecs?

If I do disable all of them, there is 11, would I be gaining anything? If I need to I can list the names of the codecs. If this is confusing I'm sorry. Didn't know how else to ask it.

Also the same question for the video codecs. I don't use onboard.

The only thing to be concerned with in the Sound, Video, and Game Controllers there is the "Creative SB Audigy 4(WDM)" item. Windows along with the drivers for onboard sound are the other items in that section of the device manager. The place to disable onboard sound is in the bios setup program when you install a separate device for sound like a pci type card. The video codecs are there to support video playback with the video card and even for some in the Windows Media Player.
