Old soundcard not working

While clearing out some old parts about a year or so ago i tried putting an old sound card in my computer. I got a message from vista saying it isnt supported.

I kept it just incase and have got it out again just now while having another clearout so thought, why not ask if there is a way to get it to work!!

the card is a creative sound blaster live 5.1.

Aswell as it being able to work (or not as the case may be) would it better than the sound on my motherboard, an Asus P5N-E SLI.

From what I read about your sound card it is not compatible with Vista.

Scroll down a little bit and it says...

Audigy Value -- Vista Driver Available
Live! 24-bit (internal)-- Vista Driver Available
Live! Series-- No Development Planned
Earlier PCI releases-- No Development Planned
All ISA releases-- No Development Planned

clicking on the FAQ on the page you posted it says under the question "if i switch to windows vista will i still be able to use my Sound Blaster sound card:

Creative is developing Vista driver updates for many of its soundcard products. Many are already available on the web for download and installation to support existing customers. However, after installing an updated Windows Vista™ driver, some features that work on Windows XP may no longer be available due to changes in the audio architecture for Vista. See below for details specific to your product.

Driver support will also be made available for new products.

So could that count for ALL sound blaster, or all but live and older?

thankyou for the response so far

put it in, opened the driver thing and it wont find it. Vista can find that it is a PCI card and that it is a multimedia device, but not that it is a creative sound blaster live card, which it could when i last tried. I think it will work if i can get my system to find it, so any ideas of how i cna do that?

You could try going to device's properties, then click update driver and then manually point to the folder you downloaded drivers to...

the driver update is an exe file, not a driver file, so i cant guide it to it, i have to run the exe to get it to install but because it can't install unless it finds it i am stuck in a circle.

I have looked for just the driver file but with no luck yet.
