Old Custom Computer Start-up

Hi everyone,

I've been lurking here for awhile and finally decided to register. Sorry for my first post being so pathetic!

I've got an issue with my self built CAD workstation. It's run great for about 2-3 years now. Recently, it decided to not restart after being powered down for a week or so.

I figured it was the power supply, so I pulled it out and tested with a multimeter. No power. Replaced with BFG unit below and everything powers up now. All the fans turn on and the hard drive spins, but it sounds like it's stuck in a loop or something.

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks for any help!

Specifications below:

Motherboard: ASUS M2N-PLUS SLI
Processor: AMD A64 X2 6000 3.0Gb w/ ASUS chilly vent lux installed
Memory: 2 x 2 Gb G Skill F2-6400CL6D
Video: NVIDIA Quadro FX1500
HD: Seagate 160 Gb (9CS132-501)
Power Supply: BFG ATX12V 2.2 550W (BFGR550WGXPSU)

Are you referring to that nothing comes onscreen and all the fans and hdds continue spinning?
You might of knocked off the cpu_fan connector which connects to the motherboard. The computer won't boot up unless that connector is plugged in.

The fans all turn on (power supply, CPU, & case) and continue to spin. There is some noise from what sounds like the CD/DVD drive or possibly the HD.

The noise continues in a cyclical pattern (ie. a loop in my mind). Sorry for any confusion.

Not knowing what to do really, I took it in to the Geek Squad today (yeah I know...)

They tested with 2 other video cards in the existing slot & in another slot. No luck. Removed both RAM sticks and nothing different happened. Not even a beep, so they concluded that there was a problem with the motherboard, but could find no visual cue that there was damage to it.

The fan would not spin if this were the case correct? I rechecked and it is connected.
