Nvidia GeForce FX5200 Tv Out Problem

Guys I really need some help with this one. I just bought a new Sony Vaio RS710G. It came with an Nvidia GeForce FX5200 video card with S-Video Tv Out. I have installed the new driver from the nvidia website and set it up the way they suggest but I get nothing on my television. I have it set up right and the driver software is supposed to be able to detect the television, but it says that there is no tv detected. I have read several threads on other boards that suggest this card is a budget card with several issues, but I would like to at least get it to work.

Does anyone have any suggestions to get it working? Also, is there a way to use a voltmeter to detect whether the s-video out is even sending a signal? Secondly, the computer came with an s-video to composite cable adapter that I am using since my television only has a composite cable "in".
I would really appreciate anyone who can help me get this thing working

it may just not be enabled, right click on your desktop, go to the settings tab, click advanced go to the geforce 5200 tab. click nview display settings, with your tv hooked up it should show an a-screen and a b-screen. The b-screen should be a tv, click it then check the box "make this my primary display", then click apply, or if you want dual screen(monitor and TV) there is a drop box that should say single display and dual display(click apply after changing anything to see the difference). If you are watching movies on your tv from your computer you can have dual display enabled, but you have to have the TV checked off as your primary display, video won't show up if you don't do that(I had a 5200, you can only have video show up on one of them).
