Can I order one with a Caviar:confused:

<ducks>

The first one looks nice. Why the stock HSF? I never cared for them.

*smack* lol

That computer in the first picture is for a desktop publishing client. 14 hours a day they're staring at a screen, creating medical pamphlets. They really don't care about what HSF is on it, as long as it works. For those kind of tasks, stock HSFs are perfect.

The second one was a pic I took before I finished it. It's going to be a file server at a small pawn shop. The one they have now is a hopeless build from another "tech" (it's stuff like that that gets my nose out of joint reading about the kids trying to pawn stuff off out of their bedroom on Ebay and the likes). It even has a Maxtor Diamondmax 8 for storage. That drive was notorious for catastrophic failures.

The computer itself (except the Blu-Ray drive), would go for about $500 new, add in another $500 for the Blu-Ray, and you're looking at about $1,500 for the monitor and OS.

Of course everyone needs to make some money, but I've tried selling whole computers here and no one wants one, they just want components.

She wants to be able to watch movies while taking breaks from her work. She wanted the Blu-ray capabilities.

It would be more cost effective to just buy a PS3, that way you can get blu ray play back and play video games, but I guess you don't get the burning aspect. Then again I would never want to burn a blu ray disk at 1x

The TV is a 32" Sharp Aquos, 1080p. It, by itself, was $1300. An Aquos is not exactly a Soyo, Benq, Sanyo or other cheap POS tv. lol :D

I'm not sure how the computer would go for $500 complete when the case itself is almost $150, the OS is $155, the processor is $240 and the memory is $100. But... whatever. :P

I don't build/sell junk. I leave that to the wannabe operating out of his basement, Futureshop and Wal-mart.

She doesn't play video games. Also, that burner was half the price of a PS3 ;)

So my estimate of $1500 wasn't far off :P

As for the PC, I wasn't including the OS as part of that, I included that as part of the extra $1500 left over.

Those systems are definitely great (although the first one would have been nice to have a dedicated GPU, at least a $30 7 or HD2X series.

The reason the first one doesn't have an add-in VGA is because I'm relying on the HDMI output, as it offers quite the performance (3.9 in Vista) for what it is, plenty for Aero and all she needs for what she's using it for (well, more than enough really). The key here is the HDCP compliant HDMI output. I custom build to order, specific to the task.... but I agree, if it was general purpose I would have put a decent VGA in it.

So you're looking for someone who needs the same things as her? And you're making no money on it, but offering it here, hmmmm... :P
