Not downloading...?

I just got a new computer and I am already having troubles with it. First of all, when I tried to download updates, the computer froze and did this weird pixelated thing. This happened three times. I had to turn the computer off manually. Now I can't even download certain updates, and cannot update my antivirus software. Idk what to do...

Well, I assume the network is working in general if you're posting here. I'm leaning towards a possible virus or some file corruption. Could you post the errors your getting when you attempt updates?
 
It can't be a virus because I just installed the OS with a legit CD yesterday. I installed anti-virus, and firewall ASAP and scanned.

I get this error:

Some updates were not installed
Failed: 8 updates
Error9s0 found:
Code 800B0100

Wow, I am on a different computer now but as soon as I hit submit for the previous post, my computer froze and has these random pixelated colors that blink.What the heck is going on with this thing.
