No WLan connection on 2nd laptop.

Well... i have 2 almost identical Dell laptops here are work, and i have a Wireless Ethernet bridge.

On 1 of the laptops, the connection to the ethernet bridge is just peachy. on the other one however,... the sent packets is rising, but the recieved counter is staying on 0.. windows sais its connected ( the network is secured with a 64bit WEP key, wich is also entered and recognized)
yet it doesnt connect to the device connected propperly.

( the device connected is a Profibus/MPI-PPi to Ethernet adapter for Siemens PLC's. but like i said, what i intended to do with it work fine on 1 of the 2 laptops,.. but doesnt work ont he other one)

Also.. i have only 1 laptop connected to it at a time, to prevent possible conflicts.


Well,.. i've been busy with it for quite some time already,.. and now i'm at the point where i just dont see it anymore atm.

anyhow.. any suggestion is is welcome ofc ( Im pretty sure its the WLan stuff in windows )

Check your network settings. Is the IP address correct? Gateway? Can you ping the router? Have you tried without a WEP? Have you tried Ad Hoc(mostly to test out the card )

well.. its and Ad-Hoc connection actually. I havnt tried to ping it yet (does that work with WLan? :x ) when i tried repair the connection, it first said 2 operations failed.. renewing the IP and flushing the ARP-cache.
Now.. I entered a manual IP (was on automaticly obtain) and the IP error message disappeared... the ARP-cache one is still there tough.. and i have not a clea what can do about it

I am kind of sure you can only bridge two devices together, and that would explain why one can connect but the other can not. You may need to bridge it to a wireless device that can repeat, or depending on your configuration run something like wireless bridge + WDS mode.

I haven't ever personally set up a bridge + WDS but I am sure it works.
