No sound

As per the title.
Im diagnosing a customo pc, with an acer aspire sa80 motherboard inside but it doesn't have sound. Ive tried downloading off realtek and the acer site itself but none works. However, the driver is active and shows that it's working, I'm able to play music but it just doesn't output sound to the speaker. I'm force to think it's some settings inside the realtek control panel...

anyone ? this is getting really frustrating... :mad:
 
Have you looked in the bios to see if the realtek is actually turned on? and sometimes to roll back the drivers to an earlier time sometimes work?
 
When you say you can play music but there is no sound to the speakers, are you getting sound some other way? I'm a little confused.
 
Just to get this out of the way:

1. Do you have the volume up?
2. Is the sound muted?


Beyond that, what OS are you running, and what output do you have set to default?

yes i've checked the BIOS, realtek is on

No, i tried changing to earphones but no luck.

Volume is up and not muted
It was runing xp sp3 i downgraded to SP2 but same problem.
The default output is Realtek ac97 audio. (line out)

it's very FN strange.. never had this problem before much less heard of it.

any other ideas...
