No Sound, NOTHING muted, Driver up to date, Internal speaker is set to deafault-is Enabled, Plug in speaker producing no Soudn as well. Feels like a software setting somewhere.

that is a very general question,

what sound card?
what the other one said :D
also specific problems? or just no sound at all?
did u have sound before? what has changed?

detail my friend! then we may be able to help :D

Yes, it is quite general. I am using an HP Compaq laptop. I upgraded early January to Windows 7 Ultimate from Vista Home.

Recently, I have only been using sound through some Insignia speakers plugged into the single female ended headphone NIC. Then a few days ago I just hear nothing. It didnt cut out on me, I just noticed no sound. I turned off the speaker and unplugged them.

Default internal speakers is listed as "Context High Definition SmartAudio 221".

All aspects of this seem fine. I have checked all settings in Device Manager and have attempted to update the driver which only returns message that most recent driver is running. I checked all properties on this device, all checks out.

Sound tests on the internal speaker come back with no error, not really sure that they would post an error. Almost seems as if It is muted, but not showing muted.

Try doing a rollback driver. Seems like windows might have auto installed a driver update and there might have been a problem with the install.

also when you plug it in, this might sound really simple but when i had no sound (i might sound stupid for this lol) when the box pops up to ask what you justp lugged in, i would always just click ok and not look at what was selected, turns out i would be on the wrong selection, usually you want to select front speakers >.<

No such luck, didnt think that was it, but hopeful. Will check Windows updates to see if recent upgrade to Sound Driver.
