Hi..I trying to connect my desktop to my tv. I have a sr5648f compaq computer with spdif out connector on the back of my computer. Im use vga for video and that is working fine ...I just don't have sound. I thought I would beable to plug in the rca cable from the spdif port from my desktop and plug the other end in my tv and I would get sound...but nope ..nothing.
Anyone have any suggestions how to fix this...or am I doing something wrong..

thanks ahead of time

Spdif and RCA connections are not compatible, you must have a RCA out socket on the Pc for your TV or your TV must have a spdif in socket.
spdif is fibre optic cable where RCA is wire.

get a "headphone jack to rca cable adapter" , thats if your tv has rca audio inputs. plug the headphone jack to audio out on your computer and the rca to tv.

Or alternatively IF you have an xbox or ps3 you could always stream using PS3 Media player or TVersity at least that way you wont have 2 additional cables coming out of the TV

I assume you just want to use the TV as a large monitor for viewing your movies from the desktop
